As you may know, Otai is professional on alloy steel and tool steel. Now we are No. 1 supplier and stockist of 4140 / 42CrMo4 steel plate. But some customer don’t know us well, because we are also equipped with all cutting machines and milling machines for 42CrMo4 / 4140 steel block. We can supply finished pieces with desired thickness tolerance as well width and length tolerance, to save customer’s cost, as the labour here is lower.
To Save Cost and Time, US Customer Decides to Order Milled 4140 Steel Block
One order of 4140 steel block material is still ongoing for one US customer. This customer needs 4140 block for further machining. He compared the different cost between black surface plate and milled finished block piece. He finally decided to order the milled 4140 blocks with 0.02″ tolerance to save the cost and production time.
In below photo, our quality control engineer is doing the dimensional checking according to order requirements carefully. Any one piece is with defect will be replaced with a new one and in good quality condition. Quality is number one for long term cooperation. We also only want to do business in long run.
Possible Quality Worries
For those finished steel block, e. g. 4140 block material, it’s usually with defect of milling lines. That will make the tolerance thickness nonuniform sometimes. But with good milling equipments and skilled worker. We can deliver nice 4140 block material with good tolerance control.
Packing is another important issue. To prevent the rust and scratch during transportation, our 4140 milled steel plate will be rust proof oiled with water proof film or paper wrapped. If customer requires, we will also do wooden box package to double prevent the finished steel blocks material.
Good inside quality is also a must. We will do the chemical composition analyze and ultrasonic test on 4140 / 42CrMo4 steel plate, to ensure the good quality of finished block.
Delivery is Fast
As we are equipped with reliable equipments and staff, order quantity less than 50 tons (around two containers) of steel block or finished small pieces can be delivered in 15-20 days. Order quantity above 50 tons can be delivered within 50-60 days in partial shipments.
